ADHD & Autism Evaluations

I served my residency at Stonybrook’s Eastern Long Island Hospital’s addiction detox and recovery department. In working with people with addictions, I’ve been humbled to see them take on these great challenges and grateful to be able to ease some of their suffering through medication and therapy. Medication can address some of the biological cravings, while therapy helps to get to the psychological roots of addictive behavior. Some of my therapeutic approaches to addiction recovery include:

  • Establishing attainable goals, measuring next steps to attain goals, and measuring successes.

  • Celebrating milestones & accomplishments, motivating commitment by cheering you on

  • Helping you identify sources of sustainable joy and fulfillment already existing in your life

  • Identifying support networks and commitments that inspire our greatest internal resources for chang

  • Serving as your partner in change with both accountability checks and adjustments when necessary.

I recognize that becoming sober is huge change which one person described to me as “psychospiritual surgery”. I partner with patients to break down this transformation into manageable, actionable steps, taking advantage of both pharmeceutical interventions and internal interventions uncovered in therapy.
